I'm leaving DA! Leaving as in deleting my art and deactivating my account.
I found a post about that was originally about Hot Topic "stealing" an artists work.
Turns out that Deviant Art sold their work to Hot Topic
ROYALTY FREE and
WITHOUT their permission because that's was it states in the
terms and conditions. That DA can use everything you put on here how ever they want, including selling your work to 3rd parties.
Here is the post. This is a no no in my book and I know I'm not super popular and probably have nothing to worry about, but it's not just about me. As an artist, this is the last thing that I want to happen to me.
DA is supposed to be about the artist, for the artist, right? To help us share our art, sell commissions, gain potential popularity, to get our art out there, right? And it does! But at what cost?
So, I'm going to find somewhere else to post and share my art first and then delete everything because I have older works on here that I don't have the originals to.
Feel free to share this around to your friends and stuff. Everyone on this site deserves to know this, cause everyone knows that no one reads the terms & conditions.
|EDIT| has brought to my attention that the above post that's been makin' it's way around has false information.
Thank you,
InspireliriumArchive and you weren't rude at all, btw. ^.^
Please read this if you or anyone else has read the above.

Hot Topic selling artist's works without permission
A Tumblr post has been circulating, where Hot Topic is selling artist's works as T-shirts in their store, including popular fan art without the artist's permission, deviant artists included. It caught on wildfire when one user linked to deviantART's Submission Policy, stating users gave permission to dA by agreeing to their Terms of Service thereby allowing dA to sell it to third party royalty free.
This is false and inaccurate!
deviantART's Response:
"We appreciate the rallying of the community around the rights of this artist. Rights and ownership of artwork are an important cause whic
Maybe I won't be leaving DA, but it'd still be a good idea to look around for the promotion.
